Teaching Work & Lesson Plans

Lantrip Elementary

As a Theatre Education student, I began my experience with teaching in a classroom setting my very first semester as a teaching assistant at Lantrip Elementary through the University of Houston’s theatre troupe’s after school program. By the start of my second year in the program, I was promoted to an administrative role, where I took on responsibilities including scheduling, organizing and reviewing lesson plans, and leading workshops. This experience strengthened my skills in leadership, collaboration, and curriculum design.

Discussing Disabilities Workshop

As part of my administrative role within the UH Theater Education program, I created this workshop slideshow to train and support our teaching artists in creating more inclusive, accessible lesson plans for students with disabilities. The presentation includes strategies for differentiated instruction, communication tips, and real-world examples.

Study Guides

At the University of Houston, our study guides are thoughtfully crafted as educational tools for both students and teachers. Each year, Theater Education students collaborate to create a comprehensive study guide for one of the School of Theater and Dance’s mainstage productions. These guides accompany special weekday matinee performances, where students from across the Greater Houston area are invited to experience live theater. Through interactive content, behind the scenes insights, and curriculum connections, we aim to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and inspire a lifelong appreciation for the arts in the students that come see the shows.

I attended the 2025 UIL One Act Play Contest as a timekeeper. As a timekeeper for this event, I was able to deepen my knowledge of the UIL process, helping me to better understand how to support future students in their UIL performances. This experience taught me the importance of balancing structure with support to ensure students have the freedom to create while keeping to clear and consistent boundaries
